Kermit Haddox October 10, 1945 - June 5, 2026
For eighty years, Kermit walked this earth as a servant of God, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Yet those who knew him best will remember that one of his greatest joys was lifting his voice in praise to the Lord.
For more than five decades, Kermit was a faithful member of the Homelighters Quartet, serving as lead singer, manager, and one of its founding members. Through countless church services, revivals, camp meetings, and gospel singings, he shared the message of Christ in song. The Homelighters were more than a quartet to Kermit; they were a ministry. Every mile traveled and every song sung was an opportunity to point others toward God’s grace and salvation.
Among the sweetest chapters of that ministry was the time he spent singing alongside his beloved twin brother, Kenny. Together they shared not only a birthday and a family name, but a calling. Their harmonies echoed through churches across Ohio and beyond, bringing encouragement to believers and hope to those searching for God. What a blessing it must have been for two brothers to stand side by side, united in faith, proclaiming the Gospel through music.
Today, we can imagine a joyful reunion beyond this earthly life. The voices that once sang together in church sanctuaries are together again in the presence of the Savior they loved and served. The songs have not ended; they have simply moved to a greater stage, where praise is eternal and every note glorifies the King of Kings.
Scripture reminds us, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” Kermit’s life reflected those words. He remained faithful through seasons of joy and sorrow, blessing and trial. He understood that life was not measured by worldly accomplishments but by faithfulness to God and love for others.
His family was the treasure of his earthly life, and his faith was the foundation upon which everything else was built. The legacy he leaves is not merely one of years lived, but of lives touched, prayers offered, songs sung, and souls encouraged.
Well done, good and faithful servant. Until we meet again in Heaven.

A Celebration of His Life and Faith
This is how it all started:
In 1975 Kermit and Kenny Haddox were going to the Adelphi Community Church where Jimmy Vandegriff got saved on February 9, 1974.
The twins (Kermit and Kenny) talked to Jimmy and his brother-in-law (Larry Dixon).
They all agreed to start a singing group. The twins asked Jimmy’s grandfather for a name and he said “How about the Homelighters.” They practiced and sang but Kermit wanted a bus.
Larry and Jimmy dropped out and 25 years later Kermit got his bus. Kermit and Kenny kept on singing, later Kenny became a preacher and dropped out.
Kermit still continued singing and traveling in his bus until he passed away 51 years later.

"Charles was a true friend of The HomeLighters . If we had a prayer concern, he would stop our session to offer up a prayer. Charles did this for every artist he had a session with. In doing so, he touched many lives."

In 1974, twin brothers, Kermit and Kenny Haddox, followed the will of God, and began "The HomeLighters Quartet".
Over the years, there were several personnel changes, but the integrity, the will to serve God, and traveling wherever needed is the same today as it was at the start of their singing ministry.
So, it's not goodbye, Kenny. It's just I'll see ya later, for when we meet in that place, where we'll never grow old, never die, not one little pain and, we'll be together longer, in Heaven, than we ever were in this old world; Then, together, we'll sing a good old gospel song. A new song.........that the Angels cannot sing"
